Chicago Bound
August 2nd, 2004 by Ian
I just found out that I will be going to Chicago next week for training. I’ll be there 3 days/2 nights. I’m getting excited about it! I’ve never been to Chicago but have heard great things about it. Hopefully I’ll have some time to look around the place. It won’t be as fun without Bobbby there. If it turns out nice, I’ll have to go back with him and really enjoy it.
So, any suggestions on things to do in Chicago?
Business trips are usually lonely for me as I don’t like to travel w/o James. But, you can look at it as an “advance team” mission. A scouting trip, if you will.
Shopping on Michigan Ave should suit you. The Art Institute has some famous works in it. Sears Tower. That’s all I can think of now.
Of course, one of the main reason I like to take business trips is to build air miles to take James on a vacation. Air miles have no meaning for you, do they?
Maxwell Street Polish Dogs and Beef Sandwiches man! Real Chicago Deep Dish!
Hi Ian!
I actually did about 8 trips to Chicago for work this past year. I didn’t get to do much during the day, but I ate out every night! Lou Malnatti’s Pizza is awesome. A must-eat. I enjoyed Maggiano’s (Italian, great Cosmopolitans), but I didn’t realize it was a chain until I saw one here last week! Our office is near the Merchandise Mart, which has many restaurants within walking distance. There’s a good Indian place called Clay Oven near Orleans & Kinzie, and a good Thai place just north of Wells & Merchandise Mart Place.
BTW, the El from O’Hare is only $1.50 each way, but beware that the machines at the station in O’Hare don’t give change. I had to walk allllll the way back to the terminal to buy a lottery ticket to get some change!
