Stephanie is in town. She has been one of my best friends since 8th grade. Well, really it was 9th grade. We hated each other in 8th grade, but became friends in 9th grade. We haven’t been the best about staying in contact the past couple of years. I’ll take a lot of the blame for that. I’m not the best at keeping in contact over long distances.
She and Simon (her hubby) are in town for the night. Swinging through on their way to Boston. It has been wonderful seeing her, catching up on our lives, and remembering old times. We went through a file I have of sorts of communication between us - letters, postcards, papers, stories, etc. It was hilarious to look back at what we wrote and see the kind of people we were. Amazing how much you change over the years. Yet, there is still that same kernel of a soul in you that doesn’t seem to change. Perhaps that is why Stephanie and I are able to so easily able to reconnect after all this time. The souls that bonded are still there. The outer layer may have changed, but the internal is still the same.
Anyway, we were in laughing fits over some of the stuff. It was a really great time. I sad to say that she will be leaving tomorrow morning. They still have a long drive to make and not much time to do it. Simon starts his new job ASAP so they have to truck it. I guess Boston will be one of my next vacation destinations. Of course, I’ll wait a couple of months so she can find all the great places in the city.
