Great Weekend!
September 7th, 2004 by Ian
I had a wonderful weekend! My family came in to town Friday evening. As usual, we stayed up late talking and catching up. Saturday morning/afternoon was a whirlwind. I spent most of the time preparing drinks and lunch for 20 people. The big surprise of the afternoon was my sister and brother-in-law stopping by. They were originally not going to be able to make it, so it was a great surprise when they did. The two families (Bobby and mine) got along great. Always good to see.
Sunday I took the family shopping around Dallas. Then we ate at Cuba Libre before everyone hit the road to go home. I was sad to see them go. It always seems like I don’t get enough time with everyone. Oh well, at least the time we have together is so wonderful.
Monday was pretty quiet compared to the rest of the weekend. Bobby and I took Caleb to the park. We did a LOT of hiking through the woods. It was very relaxing and beautiful. Unfortunately, I had to cut the hike short because my boots started to fall apart - literally. The ground was muddy so our boots were packed with mud as we walked. I stopped at one point to scrap some off when I noticed the heel of my boot was missing. Then I noticed that the rest of the sole was starting to break off. I checked the other shoe and found the same condition. As we walked back to the car, I kept losing pieces of my shoe! In some places, the entire sole was gone, and it was basically only a leather slipper. I guess that is what happens when to shoes after 9 years.
Monday night we met up with Chris, James, and Brian for dinner. Always fun catching up with them. For some reason I wasn’t very conversational. Oh well, I still enjoyed myself. And Bobby was talking enough for both of us
Now it is back to work. Why do such great times in life have to be brought to an abrupt halt by work?
Sounds like y’all had a wonderful time.
It was a fun evening, even with the disappointment of not being able to eat at Samui! And tell me about Bobby talking … did you see what he ate? *gasp*
