The past week has been go-go-go…at home and work. It has been good though. All the work at home has been around improving the house, having friends over, getting ready for camping, etc. Work has been hectic due mostly to me training other people. Management has finally hired a contractor to take some of my responsibilities. Training her has been taking up a lot of time, but it will pay off in a week or two when she starts taking over the role full time.
The craziness at work is also good because I’ve been given more responsibility and leadership. It is strange to suddenly be directing other people on what they should be working on and managing estimates. Nothing official has changed, my manager has just started becoming more hands off. In the past where I used to be required to go to management for decisions, he is pushing back on me to handle. I think management has realized that they can’t micromanage like they used to. It is a little scary, but I think I’ll do good.
Oh, and the meetings. The meetings never end these days. I run from conference room to conference room. I’m ready for a nice 3 day weekend. We are going camping this weekend with 3 other friends. Trying out a new park in OK. I’ve heard good things about it from a coworker. We are almost packed for the camping trip. Everything is in boxes and ready to be loaded into the car. We’ll be hitting the road tonight. The rest of the long weekend will be hiking, relaxing, and enjoying the great outdoors. Whoohooo!
