On The Road Again

We’re heading to Bryan. Bobby and I hit the road this morning at 8 am to visit my family. We’re just spending the day. Neal and Amy will be there. I haven’t seen them since Christmas so it will be great to see them. Plus, little Carson (the nephew) will be there. I’m sure he has grown a lot the past few months.

I spent last night making a cake for my Aunt Midge. We are having a belated birthday celebration for her today. I think she’ll like the cake. I still need to practice on icing the cake (I can’t get it as smooth as I would like), but my decorations are definitely improving. I did a freehand daisy on the top with a dot border on the base. Turned out cute. The test will be how it tastes.

We’re listening to Bobby’s music right now since he is driving. Surprisingly, I’ve been enjoying all of it. ;) A great driving song came on earlier - Casey Stratton’s “Blood”. Oh I love that song. I crank it up every time it comes on. If you’ve never heard it you should check it out. I know it is available on iTunes.

Oh, and it is wildflower season. The bluebonnets and indian paintbrush are be-ut-e-full!

I miss TX in the spring! But I just spent the last few hours playing kickball on the elipse (just south of the White House), and then a fun drinking game. I’m much better at the drinking game than at Kickball. I was the last (unfortunate) play of the game. I’m sure your cake was lovely. I’m just getting the hang of the cake decorating set I got at Williams Sonoma. :)
