7 Hours To Go!!
April 22nd, 2005 by Ian
It’s almost the weekend……only 7 hours to go! I live for the weekends these days. I think that is a bad thing. Oh well, life is still good.
This weekend is going to be busy. My sister’s family and my parents are coming in tomorrow afternoon. We’ll have a packed house. This means that I’ll be spending tomorrow morning cleaning up the house and getting things ready. I think we are going to keep things low key because of Carson (the little nephew). That will work nicely for me since I also have to prepare for Bobby’s birthday party. It will actually work out nicely having my Mom in town because she can help me prep. She’s a pro at planning and organizing these types of things. She should be, she does it all the time. One of the things I loved growing up was that we always had big get togethers with family and friends. Any reason my parents could think of, we would invite over a crowd. I loved it!
I hope to raise my kids in an environment like that. It helps to bring your friends and family closer together. I worry that my children won’t be as close to my side of the family since we live so far apart. But I think about my mother’s family and they are very spread out. Somehow, everyone found a way to get together multiple times a year. Hopefully that will continue with my family. I think it will. I know Amy (my older sister) wants our family to keep that tradition. My younger sister and brother are in their young 20’s and still at that age when their own life is all encompassing. I expect them to grow out of it in a few years (when they get out of college). It will be interesting to see how they turn out as adults.
Wow, that turned into a long ramble I wasn’t expecting. Oh well, it helped me avoid work.
Oh, Skylar got snipped yesterday. He is now officially an “It”. The vet said he is doing great after his surgery. I’ll pick him up from the vet at lunch today. It’s going to be fun having him run around the house with that collar around his neck. I’m sure he will knocking all sorts of things over. He is such an energetic little guy. He and Caleb run circles around the house trying to catch each other. What is funny though is how different they are. Caleb is slim, fast, and agile. Skylar is very muscular, stout, and clumsy. Caleb will jump over the food bowl as he passes by, Skylar will step into it and kick it across the room. Caleb can make the sharp turn around the coffee table without an incident. Skylar ends up slamming into the couch trying to make the turn. They are both so damn cute!
Another rambling session. Okay, I’ll cut it off here.
Such a bummer they didn’t give him a big lampshade collar! That would have been funny (though costly for us with all the broken stuff!)
So I see you’re thinking about the future kids, eh?
We’ll make sure to get together with your family as much as you want so our kids can grow up knowing them all well. Between my family and your family our kids will have lots of relatives and cousins to play with and get attention from!
