Celebrate Good Times
April 24th, 2005 by Ian
Another busy, but fun day. Spent the morning with my family. My mom and I cooked a big breakfast for everyone. Turned out so good - if I do say so myself. Sadly my parents left around 10:30. I’m glad they got to make it up even it was only for one day. I always love seeing them. I headed out to Arbor Hills Nature Preserve around 11 to grab a pavilion for Bobby’s party. The park only allows one pavilion (out of three) to be reserved the other two are first come, first serve. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to get one so I went two hours early. When I got there I felt like an idiot because they were all empty and no body was around. Come noon, I was feeling a bit smarter. Other people started coming and claiming the other two pavilions. Turns out there were more parties going on than there were pavilions. And I had the prime spot
Chris came early and helped me decorate. We put up balloons and streamers to surprise Bobby. I wanted to make it a little special for him. He deserves it. I really think he was surprised and happy when he saw it. The turnout was good. We had about 20 people show up - family and friends. It was a lot of fun catching up with everyone. The problem with being the cook and host is you never get to talk to any single person for a long period of time. Even so, I still had a great time. And I know Bobby really loved it. That’s what really mattered. I know he enjoyed being surrounded by his friends and family. We should do it more often.
Oh, and we got to place a cache in honor of Bobby’s birthday. Chris was sweet enough to put it together. I’ll be submitting it to the website soon. I’ll post when it is accepted so any geocachers out there can go look for it. I think it should be a fun cache - not too hard to find and in a beautiful setting. Now I’m off to finally get in my lazy time for the weekend.
