Food, Food, Food

I did a lot of cooking today. It was great! I love days where I try new recipes and they turn out wonderful. Started the day by making some cranberry scones for breakfast. They were very yummy. Also did a quick batch of sausage and parmesan eggs with green onions. Later in the day I used our old favorite rosemary marinade on chicken. It is such a simple marinade but it makes everything taste great. Bobby grilled up the chicken and I made a lemon pasta with brocoli to go with it.
Somewhere in there I also tried a new recipe for marinara sauce. Saw it on the FoodNetwork show “Everyday Italian” (quickly becoming my new favorite). The recipe was very simple - only about 8 ingredients. It intrigued me because it called for a carrot and celery stalk. I’ve never thought of that as part of a marinara sauce. But I gave it a try and I am damn glad I did. That marinara sauce is so damn good. I was licking the utensils clean (sadly, I’m not joking here). I’m saving some of the sauce for a penne with vodka dish I want to do this week. The rest of the sauce was thrown in the freezer for a later date. If it freezes well (the lady on tv swears it does), I’m going to make a huge batch and stock up!
Oh, and my last item of cookign was the starter for ciabatta bread. You mix the starter together (basically water, yeast, and flour) and let that develop for 12 hours. Once it has developed, then you can start with the actual bread making. So tomorrow I shall be baking my first loaf of ciabatta. I hope it turns out good. My current dream hobby is to be an expert bread baker. Like I said, dream hobby.
In shopping news, I picked up 4 new DVD’s thanks to the in-laws’ gift certificate, a new book to read thanks to C&J, a new jacket from the Banana (it was so cool and soooo on sale), and 4 new graphic tees from Old Navy (at 7 bucks a pop, how could I refuse).
Shopping and cooking………good day!

So since Bobby grilled up chicken…does that mean the grill is working again?
I can’t believe there was a big sale at The Banana and you didn’t call…*wah!*
The grill is working again! I spent two hours one afternoon taking it apart and cleaning it. According to the manual, that should be done once a year. We’ve had the thing 3.5 years and have never done it. It needed it! Works much better now.
There was no big sale at BR. Just found the jacket on their regular sales rack. Regularly $130, down to $50. I had a $10 off card so I got it for $40. I love finding a great deal!
