I spent two hours one afternoon taking it apart and cleaning it. According to the manual, that should be done once a year. We've had the thing 3.5 years and have never done it. It needed it! Works much better now. There was no big sale at BR. Just found the jacket on their regular sales rack. Regularly $130, down to $50. I had a $10 off card so I got it for $40.
