Pillow Fight
November 1st, 2005 by Ian
So on Sunday and Monday I decided to blow the dust off my sewing machine and do a little handiwork. I ended up making 7 pillows for our couch - 3 large (24×24), 4 small (18×18). I wanted these pillow shams to be removable so I could wash them if needed. So I tried something new and put a zipper on them. Turns out that sewing a zipper on is fairly simple. I’m really happy with the results. I think the pillows really improve the look of the den. You can see the pics below. I got the fabrics at Interior Alternatives - a fabric outlet store in Dallas. That place is amazing! Rolls upon rolls of fabrics. I could spend hours there.
I also did a small art project. I’ve always liked the look of a color slowly changing from one direction to another. Just like what you see in the paint sample aisle at Home Depot. So I took that idea and put it in a frame. Simple project, but I like the result. And cheap!!

Whoa! That’s all very, very cool. You should do some interior design/decorating stuff on the side.
We desperately need new pillows for our sofa and loveseat. Maybe you want to make a little extra cash for the holidays??
I’m with Chris, those pillows look great!
Maybe at the next get together, when we’re nice and plastered, you could teach me how to do that.
Good job! I especially like the color scale.
