I (Heart) Jamie Raskin

From last week’s issue of the Gay and Lesbian Smart Brief:

“Senator, when you took your oath of office, you placed your hand on the Bible and swore to uphold the Constitution. You didn’t place your hand on the Constitution and swear to uphold the Bible.”
–Jamie Raskin, a constitutional law professor, testifying before a Maryland Senate committee in response to a question from Republican Sen. Nancy Jacobs about whether marriage discrimination against gay people is required by “God’s Law.”

I don’t know who Jamie Raskin is, but I love him/her right now.

Yes, I saw that last week, and was meant to blog about it - but obviously something bright and shiny caught my attention.

He’s a law proferssion over at American University in Washington.
